Surgical Skin Tag and Mole Removal

Skin Tags and mole removal is a common procedure. Typically cosmetic removal of moles is not covered by insurance. With Skin of Culture and Hair Center, every mole removal is the same price and results in aesthetically pleasing outcomes. Skin tags often can be clipped off, frozen with liquid nitrogen, or burned with a cautery which leaves behind little to no scar. A true mole, or nevus, must be removed surgically to eliminate recurrence. We have two primary methods for your expert mole removal. Shaving your mole requires no stitches and leaves a round scar, whereas an excision involves a simple stitch with a line scar. Dr. Hill will check every mole for its condition before offering treatment. We promise to offer you the best patient care in the comfortable environment you deserve when you choose Dr. Hill for your skin mole evaluation and removal.

What Causes Skin Moles?

Moles are caused when cells in the skin, called melanocytes, grow in clusters or clumps. Clusters of these pigmented cells commonly appear as small, dark brown spots. Moles can develop on any part of your body. They can vary in size and can be flat or raised, smooth or wrinkled. Most people have between 10 and 40 moles. However, new moles can safely develop up until your mid-30s. Most moles are harmless but a dermatology skin exam is necessary to ensure that moles do not have any concerning features.

What Causes Skin Tags?

Skin tags are benign growths that occur in the folds of skin on the neck, underarms, and groin. They present as fleshy skin colored bumps that have a thin stalk. Friction, diabetes, weight gain, and genetics can lead to the development of these growths. Dr. Hill has years of experience removing these cumbersome lesions with a multitude of procedures. Surgical Cyst Removal

If you have a cyst that needs to be removed, choose Dr. Hill for your specialized cyst removal surgery. Cysts are typically painless, slow to grow, with smooth overlying skin and present as rubbery marble like nodules under the skin. They are asymptomatic unless manipulated which can lead to expression of its liquid contents. If manipulated too often cysts can become inflamed. When this occurs cysts can become red, swollen, painful, and start to drain. This typically requires antibiotics to calm down the inflammation followed by surgical removal. Cyst surgical removal is an outpatient procedure that takes 30 minutes. The skin around the cyst is numbed using local anesthetic. After an incision is made into the skin and the cyst is removed Dr. Hill will place deep dissolvable stitches and superficial dissolvable and nondissolvable stitches. The nondissolvable stitches will be removed between 1 to 2 weeks.

What Causes Cysts?

A cyst is a benign growth that forms as a result of an abnormal out pocket of a hair follicle. Cysts can occur anywhere on the body or scalp for no apparent reason. A cyst can become inflamed when natural bacteria is introduced through the cyst pore, or opening, leading to the formation of an abscess. We treat many types of cysts at Skin of Culture and Hair Center.

Surgical Earlobe Repair

Torn or elongated earlobes are very common. The microtears that can occur over years can be due to sleeping in earrings or wearing large earrings or even from continuous pressure of a phone to the ear. Elongated or torn earlobes can be repaired with a simple 30-minute outpatient surgery. Typically, keloids can be removed and ears can be pierced same day. There are different approaches to repair an earlobe depending on the length of the tear, the length from the edge of the ear lobe, and whether there is a keloid present. Dr. Hill works diligently repairing earlobes to create a symmetric end result. Patients will have a small scar that lightens over time. Ask Dr. Hill about your earlobe repair today.
